What if for 4 Sundays straight your church…
Went to the streets instead of the building?
Went to the rehabs instead of the pews?
Went to the neighborhoods, set up a grill and fed those living there?
Went to the local gas station and handed out hot chocolate and prayer?
Went to the laundromat and folded clothes while chatting about a Savior there?
Went to the hospital and prayed as people entered?
Or just went “out” in general?
What if every church in town stopped comparing whose sign was bigger…
And they joined together in parking lots and neighborhoods to feed the hungry?
What if we didn’t only meet in unity when tragedy struck?
What if for four Sundays straight…
You went to “them” instead of waiting in rigid walls for them to come to you?
I’m not saying you should do it, I’m asking what if.
Because we lean heavy on,
“Do not forsake the assembly”
But in the meantime…
We’ve forsaken the broken.
There are more than likely churches that cannot remember the last time they left their church and served the community.
Something seems wrong, doesn’t it?
We throw parties and then stroke our self righteousness by saying “well, they didn’t come.”
But, why would they?
I think many of us have good intention.
Just thinking with expansion they could make more of an indention.
Mark 16:15 says to “Go” out into all the world and preach the gospel.
Just proposing the question of…
If going from our home to our building is what “go” meant?
And if not, then perhaps we should ask where it was that we were sent.
These questions truly aren’t meant to cause accusation or malice…
